Baptists/Believing in God

Question
What is the difference in the belief Abram had for God (Genesis 15) and the belief Mary had in God (Luke 1:26-38) in the sense of believing God, believing something about God and believing in God?

Thank you

Answer
Dear Mario,
   Thank you for writing.
I may not be much help because I don't see any qualitative difference in Abram's belief and Mary's.  Of course each individual is unique and responds somewhat differently, but basically Abram and Mary both trusted God to fulfill His plan using them.  Abram had to wait longer and got talked into hurrying the process in a manner outside of God's principles (and the world has paid dearly ever since with the Middle East problems).
But Mary was not perfect either.  She recognized that she needed a Savior from her sins. (Luke 1:47, Matt.1:21)

Expertise

I have time for you. The Bible has been my guiding light for most of the 56 years of my life. My missionary parents in Brazil kindled a love for God`s Word by their example and their love for truth. The Lord has blessed my husband and me with responsible, independent children who love and serve the Lord and are our best friends. I would enjoy discussing any subject or problem from a Biblical perspective.

Experience

I help lead music in a small Southern Baptist Church. Although I rarely have the opportunity to play, I do play the bass guitar, drums, tambourine, harmonica and piano. I like Southern Gospel and praise choruses, but only know by heart the words from the hymnal, and my vocal range is half an octave lower than most music is written, but fortunately my husband transposes well and also plays by ear.
