Question
I've gotten many an answer to this by many a pastor from all denominations, but I want more of an answer, so I was wondering what's your baptist-take on the meaning of
Genesis 3:22-23 "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken."
I really just want to know who the "us" is, and why ignorance is something good in this context.
The us is the same as the "Let us create man in our own image." It is the Trinity.
In this case, knowledge was very costly. In their innocence they only knew and experienced the goodness of God. God knew evil (satan) and all the byproducts. Adam and Eve did not. Indeed, their knowledge would not just be head knowledge like us watching a bomb exploding on TV and knowing people died. They would now know evil and its horrors intimately like those at the bomb site and God wanted to keep them from that but He allowed them to choose. Remmber Adam knew his wife cognitively and physically. Evil would now be on that same level.
