Baptists/Importance of prophecy

Question
What is the importance of prophecy in interpreting and teaching the Scriptures?

Answer
Hi Earl,

Thanks for this great question.  One's interpretation of Biblical prophecy is an indicator of one's hermeneutic.  In other words, it shows your philosophy of interpretation of the whole Bible, whether it is literal, or spiritual, or metaphorical. There can be only one correct Biblical interpretation of prophecy.  Truth is, it is not subject to change or revision.

2 Peter 1:20
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

I hope that this answers your question.

In Christ,

Expertise

I believe that every word of the Bible is God-Breathed. This blessed book is the foundation of truth for faith and practice. If you ask this volunteer a question you will receive an answer from the Bible that is based upon a litteral, normal interpretation, taking into account the grammar and culture of the time.

Experience

I have been in the ministry almost 20 years. During this time, the Lord has used me as Senior Pastor, counsellor, youth pastor and generally in the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry.
