Question
What is the importance of prophecy in interpreting and teaching the Scriptures?

Answer
Well, prophecy is indeed a great evidence of the validity and authority of the Scripture and as being part of the whole counsel of God we should point out fulfilled prophecies in our teaching.  It is also a great part of our faith building.  We see what God has already done so when we see prophecies that are as of yet unfulfilled we can have great confidence that they will come to pass.  

All Scripture is important and must be rightly divided or interpreted and prophecy is no exeception.  False prophecy or interpretation causes problems.  People have sat on mountains awaiting Christ's return or done some crazy things because they have gone off the deep end. Remember the Y2K fiasco?  People were sure Christ would return and the Trib would start and all that and here we are four years later.
