Baptists/Middle East Situation
Expert: Dr. Tim Gladu - 11/24/2006
QuestionHello DR. Gladu,
I overheard an expert on a radio program saying that Iran has already stated it wants to destroy Israel & the U.S. & it's a matter of time until Iran or some other evil nation will use a nuclear weapon against us. He discussed that the electromagnetic wave from a certain size nuclear device detonated 100 miles above the U.S. could completely knock out much or all of our communications capability.
Are there any Biblical scriptures supporting America or Israel launching a nuclear first strike against our enemies if we know they're going to attack first in a matter of time? Does the Bible indicate anywhere that we would be going against God's law by killing innocent civilians in such an attack?
I would think God would support our first strike option if we go by Old testament law. New Testament law seems a bit different. Christ comes and seems to move us to love our enemies and even "turn the other cheek".
What might be your opinion on all of this?
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Mike Eidson
AnswerMike,
Israel will have a great role in the end times. The closer the world gets to a one world gov't the closer we are to the rapture and the 1000 year reign of Christ. The prophecy's have been there for thousands of years and it is just a matter of time before they begin. The rapture is when the church is taken up to meet Christ and then the 7 years of tribulation will begin. The most important thing we can do is to except Christ as savior and God will sort out the details. The Muslims have been trying to destroy Israel ever since they became country. Iran does have the potential to get Nuclear weapons in the near future and if they threaten Israel then Israel may just drop a Nuke on them I really am not worried about it that much. The reason I Can say that is because I know I will be with God in heaven and that gives me great comfort. I hope this helps and if you have any more questions I will always be willing to answer to the best of my ability.
God bless
