Baptists/Speaking in tounges and prophesies

Question
In reading on the Assemblies of God official website it is stated that when tongues is spoken it must align with what is in the bible.  If it does not align with biblical teaching than it is not from God. If the bible is the final authority, in that everything must align with biblical teaching than of what use is tongues.  Also, it is the position of the Assemblies of God church that prophesies are evident today, but also must align with biblical doctrine.  The same question for tongues applies here, if every prophesy must align with doctrine than of what use would it be to prophesy, but rather read the bible.  If the bible is a closed cannon than how would there be any relevant prophesies today.  Wouldn't this be adding to the bible which is warned against in revelations.  Sorry my question turned into a lot of questions, but I have recently converted to a baptist church from an Assemblies of God church, thought I had spoken in tongues, but am now wondering if it is true doctrine.  Thanks in advance for your answer.

Answer
Dear Justin,

Greetings! This is Elder Greg Madden from All Experts.  Earlier this year you asked a question of me in the Baptist category. Because of extending circumstances I was removed from this category. Those situations have been resolved, and I am now reinstated in this category. If there is any way that I could be of further assistance to you please let me know.

Thanks again, and God bless!

Experience

I attended a fundamental independent Baptist church for many years. While attending the church I learned the doctrines and beliefs of the Baptist movement. I now attend an independent Pentecostal church. I have served there as an Elder for fourteen years. I minister in song with the choir and worship team. I am also the new member’s class coordinator, men's ministry director, and the Harvest Riders motorcycle ministry president.
In 1993 the Lord called me to "...preach the Gospel where ever I open the door..." I have had the privilege of ministering God's Word to churches in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. In those meetings we have seen the Lord save, heal, deliver, and fill people will His Spirit.

Organizations
I am ordained through Harvest Church, and with the World Harvest Ministerial Fellowship. I also am a licensed minister with the State of Oklahoma.

Education/Credentials
I am currently enrolled with the Ames Bible College.
