QuestionI have two questions for you. First, why is it most Baptist are so proud? Most have what I call the Baptist pride problem. Secondly, which Bible version is the best? Is I John 5:7 legit? I guess that make three. Thanks for your insight.
AnswerHi Don,
Thanks for these three questions. FIrst of all, I am not sure why the Baptists that you have met appear to be prideful to you. Be careful that you do not paint us all with the same brush! I have met people who read Jude 3 and insead of contending for "The Faith" they are just being contentious! Some people equate a strong stand for truth with a miserable personality....they are wrong! I actually had one pastor tell me that if he was not in a fight "for thruth" at the time then he would start one just to keep his sword sharp! This is arrogant and wrong!
Bible version? King James Bible for english speaking people. It is the English Version taken from texts that have been proven over the last 2000 years. There are over 5,000 Greek texts that back the KJV. In all of those texts, there are no disagreements ...they all act as one voice. THis is the preserved WOrd of God.
The modern translations rely upon two main Greek texts that disagree with themselves over 3000 times in the synoptic gospels alone! One can argue that they were corrupted by a Heritic named Oregin, who denied the Trinity and the Deity of CHrist. It is Oregin of Alexandrea who excluded 1 John 5:7 from the Holy Bible, because it did not square with his denial of the trinity.
I could write much more, but I will keep it simple. Let me leave you with a promise God gave concerning His WOrd.
Psalm 12:6-7
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
Matthew 24:35
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
I hope that this helps.
In Christ
