QuestionI am studying the Christian faith. I would greatly appreciate it if you cloud answer a couple questions for me.
my first question is how did Jesus come to be. Or what is his life story?
I would also like to know if there a few important rules you must follow to be a baptist
Thank you greatly,
Allen
AnswerHi Allen,
Yours is a good question. The answer is somewhat long because of who Jesus Christ is. Although my answer will be somewhat brief, it will take a little time to read this, but it will answer your question.
The name "Jesus" is Greek equivalent of the Hebrew word meaning Savior (Mt. 1:21). "Christ" is the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew word Messiah, meaning anointed, and refers to Jesus as the Messiah promised in O.T. Scripture (Da. 9:25-26; Jn. 1:41; 4:25; Ac. 2:36). While Jesus refers particularly to the Lord's humanity (being a man) and incarnation (being God who came as a man) by which He became a man to die for our sins,. The title Christ refers particularly to the Lord's eternal deity as the Son of God.
Jesus came to earth and was born to Mary who was a virgin. His birth was a miracle. The Bible tells us very little about Him as a boy, but begins at age 30 when Jesus began His public ministry. He went about Israel for Galilee to Judea preaching and doing many miracles. He gather 12 disciples who He taught as they followed Him. At thirty three He was arrested, and condemned by the Jews and crucified by the Romans in Jerusalem.
Jesus Christ is God the third person of the Trinity. He had no beginning nor end being eternally Almighty God. “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8) God is eternally God and does not exist in time nor is He a material being such as we men are. God created the universe and all that is in it. We cannot really understand what this means as we are material beings who exist in time. There is no time in heaven where God resides.
Christ came to earth, God only begotten Son. and became a man so He could make atonement for man's sin. All men are sinners and under the condemnation of their sin. Thus man needed a perfect and innocent Savior to atone for his sins. Jesus came to earth as a man, God incarnate, to paid the penalty for man’s sins. The New Testament explains, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) God says we are His creation and even though we sinned against God He loves us and wishes us to be with Him in heaven. “Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.” (1 Thessalonians 5:10)
Jesus is God and is man’s righteous judge. Hebrews 9:27 tells us “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27) We are told that Jesus is the Judge of all men. “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:8)
Jesus submitted Himself to sinful men and allow Himself to be crucified. On the cross of crucifixion Jesus suffered and died for the sins of all men. “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” (Philippians 2:8) “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross” (Colossians 2:14)
So Jesus suffered and died on the cross for our sins. On the third day after His crucifixion Jesus arose from the grave proving that He was God and had all power over death and sin. He conquered death and sin for us so that we could have our sins forgiven.
God plan is that if a man will believe God’s word and believe in Jesus Christ he came be saved from sin being forgiven of all sin by God and receive eternal life.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:16-18)
As the passage states God we save all who believe in Jesus Christ, but He cannot save a person who will not believe because salvation is God gift, and must be receive by faith.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Salvation is not something that can be earned or merited by man. Man is a sinner and condemned by his sins, so he must have a Savior. Jesus is the Savior and righteous Judge who will forgive us and give us salvation, but we must believe Him and in repentance accept His forgiveness. Sadly, most of the world simply ignores Jesus Christ and will not accept Him as their Savior.
Baptist do not have rules to follow as Baptists. As Christians who love the Lord we obey the teaching in the Bible and pattern our lives after His instructions. The Bible’s instruction are for all Christian whether they be Baptist or not.
I am sure you will have further questions and I will be happy to answer them and receive any comments you might have. Thank for you asking.
I have an article at
http://bible-truth.org/gospel.html on my web site that explains what Jesus came to earth to accomplish. This is the Gospel or God’s plan of salvation. It would be helpful and help you understand if you read it. I hope you do.
May God bless you as you seek to know who Jesus Christ truly is.
