Cana divorced man hold the position of Deacon in the American Baptist Church?

Hello Eddie,

Each local Baptist church (in American Baptist life as well as in other Baptist groups) makes the determination as to who to  set apart as deacons. Some churches only ordain men as deacons, and some may not allow divorced men to serve as deacons. However, many local Baptist churches now do allow divorced men to be deacons. Bottom line, you would have to ask the pastor or lay leadership of a given church in order to find out what their particular policy is.
