Question
Mrs. Lyons,

Can you give me the name of a non-profit organization that does missionary work and gives bibles overseas?  I have noticed such a great lack of bibles in other countries, it is very unfortunate. I am looking for one that is trustworthy and puts the money in the right area.

thanks.
Leah

Answer
Dear Leah,
Thank you for writing.  You're right.  In Communist and Muslim countries, Bibles are very restricted, so people often suffer and die to have eternal "food."  I suggest that you look online for organizations who minister to persecuted Christians in other countries.  Take your time and let the Holy Spirit guide you.
In other countries, it would be best to give directly to missionaries who can give Bibles where needed.  Look online for the contact info of Missions or denominations you are familiar with, and ask for help to find a missionary who shares your concern.  Your interactions with these organizations will help you decide who to trust.
Your interest in the availability of God's Word acknowledges the tremendous value of the Bible which has been preserved for us over the years at great cost.  God also has given each person the witness of His creation (Romans 1:19-20), and our conscience (Romans 2:15), so I pray that people will respond and accept God's salvation even if they don't have opportunity to feast on God's Word.
May you reflect His glory as you seek to further His kingdom.

Expertise

I have time for you. The Bible has been my guiding light for most of the 56 years of my life. My missionary parents in Brazil kindled a love for God`s Word by their example and their love for truth. The Lord has blessed my husband and me with responsible, independent children who love and serve the Lord and are our best friends. I would enjoy discussing any subject or problem from a Biblical perspective.

Experience

I help lead music in a small Southern Baptist Church. Although I rarely have the opportunity to play, I do play the bass guitar, drums, tambourine, harmonica and piano. I like Southern Gospel and praise choruses, but only know by heart the words from the hymnal, and my vocal range is half an octave lower than most music is written, but fortunately my husband transposes well and also plays by ear.
