Pastor Don,
I am 53, single (never married) and I take care of my mother full-time at home (she has Alzheimer's disease). I'm not sure I will ever get married, and would like to know what God expects from a single woman--I don't know where to look in the Bible, and I haven't found any websites for single Christian women other than the ones that are really dating services. What about single women, not actively looking for a husband but wanting to live a fulfilling, Christian life that is pleasing to God?

Hi Kathy,

As a single lady, you are free to dedicate yourself to service in church in a way that married women are not able to.  Because you are not bound to children or to a husband, you have much more time to volunteer in a way that would utilize your personal spiritual gifts.  I strongly suggest that you speak with you pastor and find out where he sees you fitting in to your church.

34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
