Question
hello, I'm very curios, i recently devoted my life to our lord Jesus Christ and everything is great. recently my friend asked me if i spoke in tounges, i had never heard of the saying/language so he told me to ask my pastor, i did and he explained it quite well, he said that you have to ask god for the gift of speaking in tounges, and today i did. whilst i was doing some private worship i said, lord release toungues into this worship, and i started spinning around and around shifting and swaving, saying words that id never heard of, would you say that i was speaking in toungue? is there only special words that toungue language uses or is it all just unmade?  i havnt read the bible yet so its quite hard for me to understand..  thankyou  and god bless xox

Answer
The issue of speaking in tongues (see the first two chapters of the Book of Acts; also see 1 Corinthians 12-14) is not a clear cut issue. Some Christians believe it refers to speaking in foreign languages unknown to the person speaking, while other believe it involves speaking in a truly unknown language. Different churches simply interpret this matter differently, and the Bible itself is open to differing interpretations in this regard. As for me personally, I do not speak in tongues. I would suggest you talk to the pastor of the church, or Christian group, you attend and ask him or her about the matter.

I hope this helps.
