Question
in my local baptist church sunday night bilble courses are being available. these courses are presented in dvd format over 6 to 13 wk course taught by national know teachers. some are women (SUCH AS kAY ARTURE) and are being available to mixed groups. IS THIS BILBLICAL  ex:1 TIM 1:11-13

Answer
Hi Calvin

Thanks for this question.  There are many oppinions that can be offered on this subject.  Here is what the Bible says:

1 Timothy 2:11-13
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

If the DVD course is offered to men, it would seem to me to be unbiblical.  I think that the person that you sould speak to is your pastor.  Find out what his rationale is to do something that seems to clearly go against very plain teaching in scripture.  Perhaps you will find that your pastor does not believe that particular scripture.... then you have a whole different problem.

I hope that this helps you.

I believe that every word of the Bible is God-Breathed. This blessed book is the foundation of truth for faith and practice. If you ask this volunteer a question you will receive an answer from the Bible that is based upon a litteral, normal interpretation, taking into account the grammar and culture of the time.

I have been in the ministry almost 20 years. During this time, the Lord has used me as Senior Pastor, counsellor, youth pastor and generally in the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry.
