Question
My husband and I are looking for an adults only, all inclusive resort, what would you recommend? Also, how are the beaches and water? Is the water calm or does it tend to be on the rough side?

Answer
Hello!

The only resort on Barbados that I know of that is adults only (16 and over) is the Almond Beach Club and Spa located on the gold coast in the parish of St. James.  I only know of the resort as I always stay privately while on the island.

A friend of mine did stay at the Almond Beach Village with her husband and three children and she was very happy with the hotel.  They are owned by the same group and have the same standard.  The club is for adults and the village is for families.

Here is a good web-site:

The water is turquois and always (really always) 80 degrees C.  The sand is fine, soft and cream-coloured.  The seas up on the west coast are always very calm unless a really bad weather system is approaching.  This doesn't happen very often as Barbados is the only Caribbean island that lies outside of the hurricane belt.  This is one of the reasons for it's prosperity.

Have a great time!

PS Tiger Woods got married just a few doors down in the Sandy Lane Hotel also in St. James (the most exclusive hotel in the entire Caribbean).

Expertise

I am a 17 time return Barbados enthusiast and have found that I know more about the island and the Bajans than most locals do. The only thing I don`t know much about is the cruise ship culture and the really cheesy touristy attractions.

Experience

Whether you need information on sports, shopping, restaurants, nightclubs, transportation, weather or cultural events maybe I can help. If not, I can probably point you in the right direction.
