QuestionHi Cathrin,
I know that from Barbados no official passanger ferry are operation, but I heard about a cargo ship which leaves Barbados for the night and arrives at St Lucia in the morning. I heard that this one is taken also a few passangers. Can you tell me something about this? If so when exactly or how often per week it leaves from Barbados to St Lucia and how much would it cost. Where can I get more infos or book.
Thanks in advance
PS If I remember the companie's name is something like WATI
AnswerHello Maria,
I have heard this as well but have never tried it. In November of 2003, I and about 10 friends got stuck on Guadeloupe becasue of the LIAT strike. We were headed for a week on Barbados after sailing for 2 weeks between Guadeloupe and Dominica. Not a chance to get a flight for days so we took the ferry as far as St.Lucia. Just then te strike was settled and we got the first plane out to Barbados. Sounds easy in retrospect but it was days of agrivation and waiting.
The only bit of information I have are phone numbers of freight angents on Barbados and on St. Lucia. It would be worth it to call them and I am sure they would steer you in the right direction. I also would be very interested in what they have to say.
On Barbados: Goddards Shipping & Tours,Ltd. 246-426-9990
On St.Lucia: Beachcomber, Ltd. 758-452-1089 or 758-454-9107
Here are also two general telephone numbers that will help you get your information: Eastern Caribbean Trade Lane team 561-881-3992 or 888-578-5850.
Good luck!
