Question
Hi I would like to know wether it is possible to fligh  from Barbados (I love it there, been twice have to go again) to Guadeloupe or is there a ferry to Guadeloupe ? I have tried so many times on the net but elas no go Regards Catharina.

Answer
Hello Catharina,

Yes it is possible.  LIAT has flights to and from Guadeloupe to Barbados with stops inbetween.  Here is their website:

I ended a sailing trip in Guadeloupe and went on to spend a week in Barbados in November 2003.  We got stuck in a LIAT strike and had to find another way south.  We took the speed ferry from Guadeloups to Dominica, Martinique on to St. Lucia.  From there we took an afternoon LIAT flight (just as the strike broke) to Barbados.  The ferry terminal is a short distance away from the airport.

The ferry leaves early in the morning in Guadeloupe and stops long enough in Martinique for you to eat lunch, then ends in St. Lucia in the early afternoon.  Can't say if it is cheaper than flying, but it is an adventure.  The boat is huge and fast. I assume that the opposite direction has similar times.

I am a 17 time return Barbados enthusiast and have found that I know more about the island and the Bajans than most locals do. The only thing I don`t know much about is the cruise ship culture and the really cheesy touristy attractions.

Whether you need information on sports, shopping, restaurants, nightclubs, transportation, weather or cultural events maybe I can help. If not, I can probably point you in the right direction.
