I recently built a pit for our church to be used for fund raisers. It is 42" wide by 9' long. I was thinking of using stainless steel for the grates, what do you think, and where can I get custom grates built ?

It can get costly to use stainless vs cast iron grates however with stainless you wont get the rust issues. If you use google you can search for custom grill grates and find web sites such as this one http://www.kalamazoogourmet.com/surfaces.php
