Question
This is my first time smoking a Boston Butt, I need to know where to inject the Butt and does it require a dry rub?

Answer
Hi Gregory,
I usually do not inject my Boston Butt when I smoke it. My personal reason is that you want to keep the roast dry so the smoke permeates it. However, I do know people that use the injectors and they have told me you just inject the flavoring into multiple places in the roast and there is no one specific area.
I like dry rubs and since you are using an injector I would suggest a dry rub to compliment that flavor. Dry rub it 24 hours before smoking and your good to go. However a dry rub is not necessary. Some people tend to use sauces after the roast is done depending on how its served to accent the flavor of the pork.
Bottom line is, Its all a matter of taste.
Happy Smoking,
Regards,
Misty
