Barbecue/Grill propane connection

Question
This may be destined for an HVAC expert, but here goes...

I have built a backyard grilling system complete with charcoal grill pit, smoker pit, and gas grill pit.  I would like to splice and extend the black flexible hose that goes from my valve assembly to the propane tank (http://www.jollyscove.com/images/bbq.jpg) so I can move my tank from site.  The end of the hose connected to the valve assembly is done so with a factory crimped copper end which doesn't look like a do-it-yourself modification.  I have a five foot extension hose (with male and female ends) but somehow need to cut the black hose and install an adapter.  Is this possible and how would I do it?

Answer
Tyler,

My apologies.  I answered this question the other day but it didn't get sent out.  Anyway, unfortunately I don't have much of an answer. You could try going to Barbecue Galore, they may be able to help.  Also, try going to a Home Depot or Lowes and go to their gas fittings area.  Perhaps they will have someone who can answer the question.  I would suspect that you could find the fitting you need in the gas fittings area.  Cut the factory one off and install the new one.  Make sure you test for leaks.
