Barbecue - Supplier of Hardwood Pellets as fuel source
Expert: BBQ Woman - 10/26/2009
Question I am looking for a supplier of hardwood pellets to be used as a fuel source in a Traeger grill. I really don't want to pay full retail prices if I don't have to. Many manufacturers supply pellets for use in furnaces, stoves, and other commercial heating applications, but I've found none (other than Traeger) that supply pellets specifically manufactured for use as fuel in the Traeger grills. Can you help me find a more affordable source for hardwood fuel pellets?
Answer Hi Jeff,
There are places such as this one http://www.dansons.com/products-pellets-backwoods.html that offer a grilling pellet. However, I am not sure what pellets are the cheapest. Allot depends on the amount of pellets you plan to use in a year. If you plan to use a high volume of pellets I would suggest contacting the merchant you purchase from or even Traeger and see if you can get a volume discount.
Another way to save money is to check out end of the season sales. I stockpile lump charcoal as allot of stores in my area are trying to get rid of all their BBQ stuff. I have been getting it at 75% off and it stores well for summer grilling times. Perhaps you can find the same deals with pellets?
I hope you find your bargain! :)
Good luck,
Regards,
Misty
