Question
hi, my broilmaster bbq(model D4CP6) needs an overhaul(flame coming out of control panel etc.)and i know i need a new burner.should i use broilmaster replacement parts or an other brand that fits the broilmaster and secondly when do you change the briquets?

thanks

bruce

Answer
Bruce,

I would generally suggest buying the manufacturer's parts because other parts just don't seem to fit as well.  For you, I would couple that purchase with deciding how long you will keep the current grill.  Base it how long you plan on keeping that grill (and how much you are willing to spend). If a year or less, buy the less expensive burner. More than a year, buy the more expensive burner. But that also depends on how much difference is the cost of the two.

As far as changing briquettes, I don't change them until they start crumbling and then only the ones crumbling.  The more grease drippings on them the more flavor gets imparted to what you are cooking.
