Barbecue/coking a rotisseire chicken

Question
Do I use the gas burners and the infrared burner at the same time?  This is my first time using the rotisseire and I've misplaced my users guide.  I have a Sonoma grill

Answer
Generally, most grills do not allow both to come on at the same time. But the general answer is no.  The infrared is only on when you are cooking with it.  That said, if you can turn both on, you could operate the gas burner that is NOT under the chicken (this is indirect cooking, and you would probably be able to cook the chicken a little faster. But if you can maintain 350 degrees with the infrared, I would say, don't worry about the gas burners.
