Barbecue/boston butt, grilling verses smoking

Question
I own a smoker and a gas grill. I would like to smoke or grill a boston pork butt for the first time. Which would you recommend. Could you give me some pointers for both. I make my own spice rubs, but do you have a marinade that you could share with me. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Answer
Its really just a matter of personal preference. I like it both ways. Gas is always easier as there isn't as much to it and you wont have to maintain a fire. A smoker is good when you have the time to incorporate that smokey flavor that you get with a wood fire and wood chips. If you read some of my other posts you will see how I describe cooking a Boston butt.
As far as marinades go I am so hooked on this new one from a company called www.weewillys.com and its called Cuban mojo. I also do my own marinades which actually you could use with any of your rubs. The marinade itself is just apple juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, sugar, and a little bit of water. Like all marinades and pork butt you get better results when you use an injector or poke holes in it with a fork and letting it sit in the marinade overnight. The next day you would use your dry rub. If you have more questions feel free to ask.
Happy Grilling

Misty
