Question
Hello, I am a hairstylist, and I would like to learn some  barbering techniques.  How can I learn to cut fades and do single razor shaves without going to back to school? Do barbers like to have assistants or proteges?

Answer
Hello Franny I would say you do not have to go back to school. The fade is a step by step process meaning if you start off with a 2 and want to go to a 1 you would go 2, 1 1/2, 1a then your 1 each blade or guard is a step as far as the razor the best practice is with a balloon, razor, and shaving cream practice on the balloon a few times a week blow it up to its max apply the shaving cream and shave it as if it was a man if the balloon pops your pressing to hard as with the fade and razor it all takes practice good luck with your last question I would say no a barber does not need and assistant protege maybe :) good luck feel free to ask more
