Bariatric Surgery/VSG and Fundonissen

Question
I am told I cannot have the lap band due to the fundonissen and I cannot have gastric bypass due to my trouble with ulcers.  So, that leaves me with the gastric sleeve, which I really am interested in.  Can I have the VSG is I've already had a fundonissen?  Please have good news for me.  :)

Answer
Tracey,
Having the previous Nissen fundoplication makes any subsequent surgery more complicated.  I know of some surgeons who would do a Band in that situation but I would agree it is not a good idea.

A sleeve will probably be technically challenging, and in the area of the previous Nissen surgery it will probably not be possible for the surgeon to do the Sleeve just like we want, but it still looks like the best option available.  You do need to make sure you fully inform your surgeon about the previous surgery so that he/she is not surprised at the time of surgery.

Best of luck!
