Question
I am a 45 year old male, about 10 years post RNY.  I currently weigh 185 pounds.  Starting this past year, it's been common (but not constant# for me to feel light headed when I stand up.  I had blood work done and talked to my GP, but he didn't have a diagnosis.  I can improve on some of my routines.  I drink 2-3 diet sodas per day but not much water.  I do OK w/my B-12 sublingual, but very poor on my supplements.  I don't drink alcohol and I ride my mtn. bike 4-6 hours per week #up from 3 hours last year).  What do you think is causing my light headedness?  I honestly don't believe my GP understands the nuances of a post-RNY patient so should I meet w/an endocrinologist or gastroenterologist?  Thanks.

Answer
Gary,
You asked the right type of question when you mentioned the endocrinologist or the GI doc, since I think it will require several visits in person for this to get clarified and treated for you.

The best doc for you to see would be your surgeon who did your RNY.  If that's not practical, then I recommend you to engage with a Center of Excellence surgeon in your area.  You can find a Center of Excellence program at:
