Question
if a guy about 6"2' weighs about 375..how long would it take him to loose 100 pounds? i know u cant tell me exactly..just an estimate would be wonderful!!

Answer
Hi Crystal:

Asssuming that he works with his surgeon to get an optimal fill level, I'd expect him to lose 100 pounds within a year.  Men seem to lose faster/more with Bands than women in my experience.  I think it's because they tend to be truly volume eaters... so the Band works great.

ObesityHelp has a nice weight loss calculator that you can use to project weight loss at http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/information/post+op+planner.php

If you assume a 60% excess weight loss, the calculator has him reaching this at 10 months.

Hope this helps!

Expertise

I'm very familiar with the four main types of bariatric surgery: Lap-Band/Adjustable Gastric Band, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y, and Duodenal Switch. I'm familiar with the Mini-Gastric Bypass and Revisions as well. I'm also beginning my seventh year post-op as a successful bariatric patient--so I can answer questions regarding pre-op, post-op honeymoon, and maintenance phases. I'm less familiar with the nuances of plastic surgery following bariatric surgery--but I do know a bit.

Experience

Have been an avid researcher of the science of obesity and bariatric surgery for over ten years now. My professional career used to involve medical device research.
