Question
In Jan of this year I asked a question about my daughter.
After a Lap Band Fill she begin having horrible muscle
spasms. You recommended she see a Neuro which she was at the
time.  Then you recommended 100mg of Thiamine per day.  We
did that and within 5 days the spasms stopped.  Last night
after all this time the spasms are back.  First she has
indigestions really bad, then in a few minutes she starts
vomiting and the jerking spasms began.  She can hardly walk
and her jerks back.  She received a shot of 100 mg Thiamine
but still having the spasms.  At one time she stopped taking
the Thiamine and within 4 days the spasms came back she
started taking the Thiamine and the spasms stopped after a
few days.  Can you help me with this again, any ideas.  What
type of doctor do I need to take her to.  Where are you?

Answer
Bobbie,
I'm sorry your daughter is having problems again.  This does not ring a bell for me as a common effect of Band surgery.  The three docs who I can think may be of help include:

-the surgeon and the surgeon's program
-her primary medical doctor (usually Internal Medicine or Family Practice)
-a Neurologist

I appreciate your asking where I am located, but I am really not in a position to assume or supplement care that has been started by another surgeon.

My best wishes to your daughter!
Dr JP
