Bariatric Surgery/port fills

Question
why after a fill is there 2 days of liquids

Answer
Tracy,
Our experience is that the process of putting fluid into your Band causes the stomach tissue inside the Band to swell just a bit because we have "pushed" on it.  This swelling of the stomach tissue leaves less open space inside the Band (smaller "channel"), so that the Band acts tighter until the swelling goes down.  The swelling usually takes about 2 days to go down, so that's where the recommendation for liquids comes in.

Thanks for asking,
Dr JP
