Question Hi, My question is in tegards to post surgery, ulcer nutrion. I'm told I'm I am losing too much weight to fast lately because of an ulcer that is recurring. I am contemplating the ulcer surgery which will decrease my pouch but I'm reading any pouch is better than none. Do you know the complications with an ulcer operation on a bypass and what it will do to my absorbtion of food. No where does it say to reattach the larger stomach. Do you have any advise on this subject and what I can do to increase my nutrition absorbtion in either scenario?
Answer Hi Leah,
You should pose the risk question to a surgeon like Dr Pilcher who is in this forum
Nutrition should not be changed much from your bypass (your pouch is only the sixe of a shot glass) unless they remove more of the intestine - and then it would be a question of how much.
My expertise is in nutrition and weight loss surgery. I can answer questions related to nutritional care, vitamins, deficiencies, diagnosis, treatment and management. I can answer nutrition questions related to any procedure: gastric bypass (RNY), duodenal switch, lap-band, etc
Experience
I have spent seven years working almost exclusinvely in the area of weight loss surgery and nutrition.
