Question
For 7 months I have been gaining 2-3 lbs./month.I have NOT changed my eating habits-I eat the same things every day for bfast, lunch and dinner-all of a sudden I started gaining after getting down to a size 4-I am now a 10 and I am afraid I will gain all of my weight back.Is there any reason for this?I dont't snack or eat any "junk" food.

Answer
It is not unusual at the 2 year mark to have some "bounceback" weight. Most RNY patients
have a bounceback of 15% to 20% of their weight loss.

Your body is not malabsorbing calories anymore so it is as if you are taking in more than you need.

You can track through FITDAY.com.
Or use weight training to increase muscle mass, which will raise your resting metabolism. Raise
your metabolism and you CAN eat more or the same calories and still lose or maintain.

Expertise

I will help anyone with general questions about roux en y gastric bypass specifically and my own personal experiences. I am specificially looking to help other Ontarians with learning about the process and qualifying for surgery through OHIP. I can answer general questions about the complications, lifestyle and requirements of roux en y surgery. I am not an expert in all forms of bariatric surgery so if you are inquiring about such things as Lapband, Duodenal Switch, I can only answer general questions about them. I had roux en y laproscopic surgery.

Experience

I had my surgery in 2006, am very active in the WLS community and run a local support group. I am a researcher as well and enjoy sharing what I learn with others.
