How can I qualify to get my bariatric surgery in the states?  I have recently called and they say I could get in within 2-3 weeks.  Can you help?

Hi Sue,

I would like to give you more information but need some clarification in your question.  Did you call a US based practice? Most practices here, like the one I work for in Buffalo, NY, require an information seminar attendance and registration prior to an appointment with the surgeon.  The turn-around time from registration to consultation appointment to surgery varies with how quickly registration is completed, availability of consultation appointment, medical clearances and other preparatory testing and procedures that may need to be done before surgery.  

Are you interested in applying for prior approval from OHIP or are you interested in paying cash for surgical services without referral? Have you "shopped around" for procedures offered, center of excellence status, pricing etc.?
