Question
I had a sleve gast.do they take out part of your stomuc or just staple it.i am
having trouble keeping food down.i have lost apx. 70 pounds in 3 mos.is that
to much.

Answer
Brad,
For both of your questions, I strongly encourage you to make an appointment with your surgeon to check what I have to tell you.

1)  Usually a large portion of the stomach is removed during a sleeve gastrectomy.

2)  Losing 70 pounds in 3 months might be OK, depending on where you started.

3)  It is NOT typical for patients who had a sleeve gastrectomy 3 months ago to still have trouble keeping food down.  It is expected that a patient would fill up easily with a small amount of food, but they shouldn't have a lot of problem keeping that food down.

In closing, I definitely think you should see the surgeon who did your operation in the near future.

Best of luck,
Dr JP
