Baseball Instruction/Draft - supplemental draft

Question
In drafting for our Coach Pitch (ages7-8) league we spread ourselves/teams too thin....expecting some late sign-ups. Couple of teams with only 9 players after a couple quit and one returned to t-ball.  Rest of teams have 10.  Decided to dissolve one team and redraft those players to existing teams.  Who should have first pick in this supplemental draft?  Draft randomly or from the list?  Losing 6-7-8th round picks and get a 1st round pick from other team.  Fair?  Help.  My managers are disappointed and somewhat angry with this situation and I need to remedy it ASAP!  We're meeting tonight!

Answer
Melissa,

I would recommend that you randomly pick the draft order, as this would seem to be the only fair way.  Little League would also recommend this procedure.  I can't honestly think of how you can keep the same draft order, and redraft.

Sorry for the late reply.  I'm sorry I cannot help you anymore than that.  Remember that any decision made in regards to this draft will need to be decided on by your Board of Directors.

Yours in Little League,
