Baseball Instruction/baserunning speed

Question
Willie, my son is 11 yrs old and has long legs and big feet which has slowed him way down.  He used to be pretty quick, however, now he is the slowest on his baseball team.  He really struggles running bases.  His team does quite a bit of running, however, it doesn't seem to help my son get any faster.   What do you suggest to help him?

Answer
The honest truth is that most fast 11 year olds are not fast 17year olds. So I would not be to alarmed. He may just need to grow into his body.Have him maybe start to work his fast twitch mucles.Doing alot of plyometric stuff will help. You can find alot of drills on the internet. If he has speed in him one day it will come out.
