Baseball Instruction - batter's box

Expert: Brian Flaspohler - 7/21/2008

Question
Brian, I am a mexican league baseball fan and assume that we follow the same rule as american triple A baseball. My question is about feet in the batter's box while batting. I was under the impression that both feet must be in the box while batting. Thanks for your help. julia

Answer
Julia,

Both feet must be within the batter's box.  However, touching any part of the line around the box with any part of the foot still counts as being in the box.

The penalty, if a batter hits a ball while outside the box, is that the batter is immediately declared out.

Hope this helps!

Brian
