Baseball Instruction/Batter interference

Question
Junior Division Little League (Age 13-15)
We had runners on first and third, less than 2 outs.  Double steal, batter in batters box ducks at inside pitch.  Catcher made throw to third, runner beat the throw, Umpire calls runner at third base out on batters interference.  Batter never left batters box.  Is the runner out at third?

Answer
Sukanya,

It depends on the umpire's judgement.  If they feel the batter purposely was in the way (or didn't try to get out of the way) then they can rule batter's interference.  Even if the batter remained in the batter's box.

Hope this helps!
