Baseball Instruction/base running

Question
I have heard 2 different answers to this.  Can a runner on first base return to first base if the batter is forced? I know the runner must be tagged, but is he obligated to go to the next base?

Answer
Yes.....Once the batter runner is out, then 1B becomes "open" for example the 1B man tags first then throws to second & the runner gets in a run down between first & second....Either base is open to him/her....They may end up anywhere thaty can reach safely.

Great question.....Andy

If this helped, please rate me positively, if not let me know ASAP.....
