Baseball Instruction/pinch runner

Question
Hi~
We were in a litle league Friendship game last night (11-12 year olds) in CT, and I was wondering the rules about pinch runners.  During the mid-third inning, a batter hit a double and was replaced at second with a pinch runner; (score was tied 3-3) runner then stole 3rd and the inning ended with the next batter.  So my question is, once there is a pinch runner for a player, isn't he out for the game or at least a certain amount of time?? He was back playing the next inning at 1st (where he previously was) and also batted.  Just wondering, I thought it was strange but then again, maybe "friendship" rules are different??
Thanks.

Answer
Trilby,

By the written rules, reentry into a game is not allowed.  However, many leagues have special rules written up that allow this.  You'd have to check with the league to see what their special rules are to see if reentry is legal.

Hope this helps!
