Baseball Instruction/Safe or out?

Question
2 out, runner on 3rd.  Ball is hit between 3rd & SS.  SS
fields ball and throws to home as runner nears home plate.
Catcher receives throw and tags runner who is sliding head
first into home.  In tagging, ball is kicked out of catchers glove high enough to be caught by the pitcher who
is backing up the play.  Before the ball is caught however,
the runner slides across home plate.  Does the run count or is the runner out?

Answer
John,

If the umpire determines the catcher did not have secure possession during the tag, or the motion of the tag caused the ball to become loose, then there is no out; the run would count. The pitcher gloving the ball before it landed has no bearing on the play.
