Baseball Instruction/runner caught running home

Question
What should a runner do at the 3rd (with less than 2 outs) if attempting to run home he gets caught in a rundown how do i coach kids to avoid being tagged.

Answer
Neil,
I don't think there is a technique to not get tagged out other than being athletic and being able to react quick.  If there is another runner on base the runner in the run down needs to stay in it until they can advance to the next base.  Other than practicing being the runner and playing the defensive positions I don't know what else you can do.

Good Luck,
