Baseball Instruction/fair or foul

Question
The batter hits ball down hits behind plate rolls and stops on plate. The ball never hits the catcher or the batter is this fair or foul?

Answer
Kenny:  Thank you for your question.

A fair ball is a ball which settles on fair territory between home and third base, or between home and first base.

In this scenario, settling on home plate is in fair territory, as the plate lies inside both foul lines.

Had a player touched the ball before it settled on the plate, it would have been foul.
