Question
I have a question my daughter plays fast pitch softball and the other day she
hit a shot into left field with the bases loaded it was a rocket the ball
richochet off the leg of the left fielder and changed direction and all the
runners made it home including my daughter how would you score this could
it be a Grand Slam? because the ball was THT 'too hot to handle" I know in
the majors when that happens the hitter is awarded a single if its a blast like
that. I t is a discretionary call. They ruled it a double not too sure about that
so i just wanted to know...   Peter

Answer
Peter,

This is tough to answer without seeing the play.  Where there any errors on the play (throwing errors for example)?  The normal practice would be to award the number of bases earned without benefit of an error.  If her shot was hard enough and no other errors were made, she could be awarded a home run.  But likely, there were other errors and the scorer determine she would get a double without benefit of the errors.

Hope this helps!
