Baseball Instruction/leaving base early

Question
little league; base runner on third.pitcher throws a wild pitch and the runner scores but he left early.what would the ruling be?   thank you.

Answer
Hi Jeff,

easy...unless the umpire has called a time out, the runner on any base can run at will. I am not aware of any ruling that says a runner has to stay on base until the pitch has been thrown.  It's considered a 'live ball' and it's runner's choice if he leaves a base. This is the case for our league - perhaps you have a different ruling.

I would prefer questions regarding coaching from atom to pee-wee, ages 7 to 14. I have no problems answering questions about coaching other sports. General questions: baseball rules, setting up a little league, establishing emergency action plans, coaching skills, techniques, discipline, rewards, sport/league promotion.
