Baseball Instruction/Interference

Question
Okay so here's the situation. This is little league 9 year old baseball

Bases are loaded 1 out. Ball hit to shortstop runner going from second to third runs into shortstop. No question I called interference. The batter-runner didn't reach first base yet when I called it so should the runners all go back. So then bases are loaded again with batter-runner on first. Runner originally on first is at second and runner originally on third goes back to third? Does it matter whether the batter-runner reaches first when I called it?

Thanks for your help

Answer
Heather,

The first question we have to ask is whether the interference was intentional or not.  If you judge the interference intentional, we not only call the runner out, but the batter-runner too.  There would be three outs, and no worries.

As for the batter-runner, you did the correct thing.  We don't sent the batter-runner back on that, and because the runner at first is forced to move, we place them on 2nd base.  The runner from 3rd is returned to 3rd base.

Good job on the call.

I hope this has helped.
