Baseball Instruction/Fair or foul

Question
In the game ending play of the Cubs game today 9/16/11 a ball was hit down the third base line. It was a bouncing ball that hit in fair territory then was touched by the 3B in foul territory before hitting the ground (in foul territory). I believe the umpires ruled correctly (fair ball) since it last touched the ground in fair territory before the fielder touched it. The announcers seemed to think otherwise. There is a replay of it on gameday that you can blow up to see.

Answer
I did not actually see the play in question, however, if a ball goes inside or OVER the base prior to becoming foul, then the ball is fair...

Baseball thoughts, a ball is ALWAYS fair until it becomes foul & a pitch is always a strike until it becomes a ball...lol...thought you would like the second one.

Thanks,

Andy
