Question
John,

We have had a baseball coach for three years in the minor league organization and now one year in the little league level. Our son is having a very difficult time playing any longer for this coach. All three of us would like to get him back into the draft. What is the proper steps needed to make that happen so he can play for another coach in the same league?

Answer
Hello Larry,

you'll have to bring your case before the local baseball association.  Most teams are geographically organized and are prevented from taking players from other areas.  If you can demonstrate that your child is being mistreated, I am sure you can have a waver and take him to the next closest team.

Another route would be to either move him up a level or take him down a level. For example, if he is A move him to BB or try AA.

You'll have to start with your local association and proceed according to their rules.  Keep a record of incidents, bring witnesses or written declarations to help your case.  Control your emotions and argue your case rationally.  IF your association is unwilling to hear your case, move to the next level.

Its important to keep a record of all communications.  If you telephone someone, write the date/time down and then send a letter to confirm.  You may need a paper trail to prove you are working within the rules.

I wish you luck,
