Baseball Instruction/Home run, or out?

Question
Outfielder catches a fly ball and goes over the outfield wall with the ball.  He never drops the ball, but he ends up in the seats.  Is the batter OUT, or is it a home run.  I say the former, my wife says the latter.  Help us settle the debate.
Thanks!

Answer
Brian,

If the player catches the ball, regardless of where he ends up, the batter is out.  The key here is that the fielder was in the field of play when he went to make the play.  If the fielder jumped the fence and ran up the aisle, then made the play, the hitter would have a homerun.

Hope this helps!
