Question
What would define a save for a pitcher in a major league baseball game?

Answer
Barbara,

A pitcher receives a save if they pitch in a game in which their team wins, they finish the game, and they aren't eligible for the win.  They must meet one of the following conditions:

1)  Pitch three innings, or
2)  Pitch with the tying run on deck, or
3)  Pitch one or more innings when the team leads by three runs or less.

Hope this helps!
