Baseball Instruction/Pitching Stats

Question
If a pitcher is instructed from the bench to walk a batter how does this affect his pitching stats..on his hits verse walks, as it isn't due to his abilities in anyway.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Sandra M. Hughes

Answer
Sandy,

An intentional walk counts against a pitcher just the way a normal walk does.  So it doesn't matter one way or another.  The run, if it scores, is earned (unless another error causes it to score).

Seems a little unfair, but that's the rules!

Hope this helps!
